An Amsterdam native and avid gardener, I have been working as a director, animator and animation supervisor for over 20 years. I enjoy writing stories and making illustrations, often using analogue materials. My films have been screened all over the world and have even picked up some prizes. For instance, my independent film Bei mir bist du schön, won the grand prix at the biggest children’s film festival in Japan, Kineko. I was development director of the animated pre-school series Wellie Wishers and I was an animation supervisor for the Neflix series The Sandman. Recently, I have finished directing the animated serie and the Special of Pol, the pirate mouse. Currently I’m directing a new film of Dikkie Dik, a pre-school feature about an orange cat.
My work is marked by a love for nature and people. I always aim to create understanding and empathy in my audience, and believe it’s best to create hopeful stories, celebrating our similarities while exploring and appreciating our differences. I have a deep interest in how we relate to nature and how we can solve environmental problems from the inside out. With my curiosity and sensitivity, I treat my projects like gardens that bloom through loving care and getting my hands dirty once in a while. If you want to talk plants or anything else, I appreciate a call or e-mail.
